Bishop Willie B. Dugan 

              While wisdom holds the key to understanding.  It is like King Solomon that   Bishop Willie B. Dugan  asked for an understanding heart as he and his devoted late wife of 48 years together (First Lady Katherine C. Dugan) gave up their life saving to be obedient unto our Heavenly Father and open the First "Africian Americian Church" in Bellwood, Illinois. 

It was Over 28 years ago this former 18 wheeler Truck Driver, which at one time desired and had the ability to play major league baseball hit a grand slam with the Holy Spirit as he humbly and quietly obey the voice of the Lord.  Moving by the spirit of the Lord, Pastor Dugan took an old Laundromat and transformed it from washing clothes to washing souls.   Now 28 years later  months after his 80th birthday Bishop Dugan has faithfully enjoyed the blessings of Abraham by taking that ole building and giving it a new look and a Godly purpose  through his Pastoral Leadership of the Christian Unity Baptist Church.  Truly the Lord has blessed him going and blessed him coming.  The Lord asked him like he asked Abraham “look around , what do you see” I will give you the land that you see.  That land that Bishop Dugan seen is now the home of Christian Unity Baptist church.  

             This is the land that he faithfully serves as a Compassionate Bishop with a burning passion to help all.  The land where he’s baptized many souls for Christ, married a many of couples and turned around and christened their children. A land where he’s faithfully taught and preached the Good News, the Gospels truth.  A land where he joyfully served with as a devoted father with his five lovely girls, 12 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.  This is even  the land where he recognized the joy of the Lord is his strength as he peacefully laid his wife to rest 

            As a community leader Bishop Dugan is committed to betterment of our community as a Maywood Park Commissioner. Look around the community you see many new parks where our children play, Bishop Dugan had a helping hand  and shows he’s a caring man.  He presently serves as a member of the Bellwood Lyons Club, Former member of Proviso Age on Counseling, Maywood Task Force and as a FBI agent. (Forever Being an Inspiration)  to all he meets.  As a dedicated and loyal teacher, preacher and leader/overseer  of many;  Bishop Dugan certainly lives up to his personal motto, “If you don’t want to love me just let me love you” For as he spreads the good news of salvation he reflects the love of Jesus in his heart.
